In a post on October 21, 2026, OpenAI said it is partnering with Google Cloud to bring its frontier models and Codex agentic workflows into Google Cloud's Model Garden. General availability is planned "in the coming weeks," and customers can request access now. The move puts OpenAI's models on all three of the top US cloud providers, though OpenAI was quick to note that Microsoft remains its primary cloud partner.
The commercial mechanics are enterprise-friendly: Google Cloud customers will be able to purchase OpenAI models through Model Garden, transacted on the Google Cloud Marketplace, so enterprises with existing Google Cloud spend commitments can draw those down on the purchases. The models will also show up inside Google's own tooling — OpenAI says they "will soon be available in Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent." OpenAI president Greg Brockman called the partnership "an important step in making our most capable models and Codex available where customers are already building," while Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said the company is "focused on giving customers a broad selection of models, including those from OpenAI."
Worth noting what has not been disclosed: neither company specified the financial terms of the agreement or any pricing for OpenAI models on Google Cloud. Still, the strategic signal is clear — with models, Codex workflows, and enterprise billing all converging on one rival cloud, OpenAI is expanding distribution well beyond its Azure stronghold. For builders, the practical upshot is simpler procurement: one more cloud marketplace where frontier-model spend counts against existing commitments.
