Generative media platform fal has launched FLUX 3 Max, a new video generation model announced October 19, 2026 via PR Newswire. The model was post-trained by fal Research in collaboration with Black Forest Labs, the team behind the FLUX image models, combining their foundation-model expertise with fal's research in model optimization and high-performance inference.

The headline numbers are dramatic. In preliminary independent human preference evaluations on the Artificial Analysis Video Arena, FLUX 3 Max achieved a 1,139 Elo rating across 4,868 votes, placing it among the highest-quality image-to-video models evaluated — a 50-point improvement over the original FLUX 3's 1,089. And it did so at speed: fal's latency benchmarks show a 10-second video generated in just 10.95 seconds, compared with 277.80 seconds for Seedance 2.5 at the same reported Elo rating — roughly 22x faster, and 11.5x faster inference than the original FLUX 3.

The model supports text-to-video, image-to-video and keyframes-to-video generation through fal's inference API. For creative teams, the practical significance is iteration speed: test a camera move, inspect the result, revise the scene — all while the idea is still fresh. It also lands as a notable follow-up to Black Forest Labs' open-weight FLUX 3 Image Klein release earlier this month, cementing the fal–BFL partnership as one of the busiest in AI video.

Worth noting: the "#1-tier" quality framing comes with overlapping confidence intervals among the top-ranked models, and the speed comparison is fal's own benchmark snapshot — VentureBeat's coverage flags both as needing context. Still, for anyone shopping for AI video generators, FLUX 3 Max is now the one to benchmark against. The launch also ships with a substantial introductory discount for API users.
